37 Weeks

We've made it past 37 weeks. She's dropped a little since this photo. At my appointment yesterday I was a WHOPPING 1.5 cm! Her heartrate was a little higher than the dr liked, around 180. I was monitored in the office for a little bit. Then she sent me to the hospital for a non-stress test. Baby's heart rate lowered. I was sent home 2 hours later. That's the most eventful thing to happen this pregnancy.
A special thanks goes out to the LaVett's for keeping Brady for SO LONG, on short notice.

Golden Ticket Redeemed

We redeemed our Golden Ticket! We got new couches! They are oh, so comfey. We couldn't pass up the price. I couldn't imagine myself with a new little one on my old flattened out couches. It was sad to see them go. They had a good story. The short version is we found them in the Church parking lot, ready to go to the DI. We took them home, Carl cleaned them up and into the house they went. 4 years later it was time to move on.

So, welcome to our home, beautiful peat colored stonebrook couches from furniture row. May your stay be long and supportive.

35 (?) Weeks

She is definately getting bigger! I can tell her space is getting cramped. We aren't quite ready for her to come yet. She IS head down with her backside on my right. Four more weeks of childbirth classes left. Then she can come anytime after that. I don't think she's coming early, but I wouldn't place any bets on it.

Au Natural

I am getting more and more crunchy over time. Crunchy? As in, granola-y, tree-hugger? I used to say I was crispy because I am was concerned for the environment and such, but not to a great degree. I recycled and used cloth diapers. I nursed and made my own baby food for Brady. I tried to do things as naturally as possible, because if it's natural it's got to be better right?

While preparing for this baby we've learned that there are more options out there than an epidural. I had an intrathecal with Brady. Not the best experience of my life. In fact, the whole labor experience was not the best of my life. Only, I probably wouldn't have known any differently had I not had some experienced ladies in my circle of friends. The most eye opening on being my Sister-in-Law who was up and walking around 15 minutes after giving birth to her 4th child, sans medication. Prior to delivery with Brady I said, "Drug me up!!" Now I'm thinking a bit differently.

The body has been able to give birth without intervention (medications and such) for millennia. The body KNOWS what to do and so does the baby. Yeah, it's gonna hurt. It's gonna hurt like HECK!! But I've come to realize something, do the right/good/better-for-you(-and-baby) thing isn't always the easiest.

So as long as baby and mommy aren't in any danger, we plan to have a natural birth. We are taking a birthing class and preparing our selves for labor. I haven't gotten too crunchy and still plan to deliver in a hospital with my OBGYN. Maybe next baby we'll get even more crazy and look into water birth should facilities be available.
