Christmas 2007

We all had great fun Christmas Day! Carl and I sauntered upstairs around 8:30 A.M.. Dave was making crepes for breakfast. The girls had already dug into their stockings that Santa filled. They were ready to get the present opening going! Presents from Santa came first. Carl got a shirt that says "Drop it like it's hot," which is one of the first thing he will teach baby to say.

I got a nice hair straightener, which I use for flipping the ends.

Even baby boy got a present, an outfit that says "Shhh...I'm watching the game with Dad!" How appropriate. It's Carl's most favorite gift. It was a good Christmas. I was kinda lonely with this being the VERY first Christmas away from my family.
The cats also liked the toys they got. Symion especially loves this hedgehog toy.

We missed all our friends and family very much! We hope everyone had a happy Christmas.

The last week

Well well, we finally made it! 1750 miles of driving, we made it...safe and sound. So we stayed in Grand Junction the first night because of weather. We tackled the Rocky Mountains during the second day. Unfortunately, the weather had not quite cleared out by the time we were reaching Vail and Breckenridge. It got really snowy, with snow covering the roads. And to top it off, there was a wreck right at the worst part!! We were crawling and we could barely get traction on the roads. But slow and steady wins the race and we got past it. To go from Grand Junction to Denver(roughly 250 miles) took us 6 hours! We needed to keep going, so we ended up driving until until 9 pm. The last 3 hours were definitely nerve-racking because we were heading in to "ice-storm" clean-up...The roads themselves were clear, but the emergency lanes were still covered in ice. And to make things better, we saw two 18-wheelers on their sides in the median while driving in Kansas. Talk about taking a toll on the nerves!

The last day of driving was much better. Just drove, and drove, and drove. We needed to go 720 miles the last day, so it took FOREVER!!! Especially the last 4 hours. We didn't reach Jonesboro until 10:30 pm after starting the day at 8 am.

But alas, we're here. Take a look at a few pictures that we'll place on the blog.

Day One

Well, we've survived the first day of traveling. The kitties were pretty vocal at the start, but soon calmed down and only piped up every now and then. We drove from Salt Lake to Grand Junction, Colorado today. We left at 6ish and got in around 3:30. We are going to tackle the Rockies tomorrow. It will be a LONG day. We're looking at going 600+ miles, leaving at 6:30 AM. We'll stop in Russell, Kansas for the night.
I'm finding out that I've got to stop every two hours for a trip to the little girls room if I follow doctor's orders to drink lots of water. And since it's not just me my choices affect, I will do what I'm told.
One interesting tid-bit: After Richfield there is pretty much nothing until Grand Junction. That means no potty breaks for at least 1.5 hours. Poor Carl. He had an unexpected arrival and got to venture into the cold, cold wilderness to resolve the situation. He's better now though and will not be consuming just muffins in the six hours before lunch.
That's all for now. Symion is glaring at us from the second bed in the room. Boomer is still being skiddish, but warming up a bit. More tomorrow if we're not too pooped to sit down for a bit and write. Love you all!!

Back in July I decided to cut my hair.....

This is what my hair looked like right before being cut.
I knew it was long, but I had no idea exatly how long.

HOLY COW!! That's LONG pony tail, it was 18-20 inches long.
If you can't tell, I was a little nervous.

Once the pony came off, there was no turning back. It was either be happy and move forward or sulk in misery and hope it grows back quick.

I chose to be happy and move forward.
