35 (?) Weeks

She is definately getting bigger! I can tell her space is getting cramped. We aren't quite ready for her to come yet. She IS head down with her backside on my right. Four more weeks of childbirth classes left. Then she can come anytime after that. I don't think she's coming early, but I wouldn't place any bets on it.

Au Natural

I am getting more and more crunchy over time. Crunchy? As in, granola-y, tree-hugger? I used to say I was crispy because I am was concerned for the environment and such, but not to a great degree. I recycled and used cloth diapers. I nursed and made my own baby food for Brady. I tried to do things as naturally as possible, because if it's natural it's got to be better right?

While preparing for this baby we've learned that there are more options out there than an epidural. I had an intrathecal with Brady. Not the best experience of my life. In fact, the whole labor experience was not the best of my life. Only, I probably wouldn't have known any differently had I not had some experienced ladies in my circle of friends. The most eye opening on being my Sister-in-Law who was up and walking around 15 minutes after giving birth to her 4th child, sans medication. Prior to delivery with Brady I said, "Drug me up!!" Now I'm thinking a bit differently.

The body has been able to give birth without intervention (medications and such) for millennia. The body KNOWS what to do and so does the baby. Yeah, it's gonna hurt. It's gonna hurt like HECK!! But I've come to realize something, do the right/good/better-for-you(-and-baby) thing isn't always the easiest.

So as long as baby and mommy aren't in any danger, we plan to have a natural birth. We are taking a birthing class and preparing our selves for labor. I haven't gotten too crunchy and still plan to deliver in a hospital with my OBGYN. Maybe next baby we'll get even more crazy and look into water birth should facilities be available.

Made with Love by Mom

I have finished another blanket!! I started one soon after finding out I'm pregnant. It turned out fine. It was just nothing special and I did not enjoy the pattern.
After finding out this baby is a girl I started on another blanket, just for her. I LOVED working this pattern!!! Why did I enjoy it so much? Well..
  1. It's done in rounds, not back and forth.
  2. I got to change colors every 3 rounds.
  3. It is made of double crochet stiches, which means bigger project faster.
  4. I got an awesome hint to just crochet in the ends after changing color to avoid weaving them all in at the end of the project.

This pattern is found here.

It is called Baby Granny Three Ways. I did Version 1 which has a shelled edge.

I'm going to start another one. Only this time I'm just going to do the inner square through the next pink square. It will be a smaller lovey for baby girl to take with her. That will be a project to hopefully help get me through labor.
And this is just a picture of Brady standing on the blanket. He wanted to be in a picture.

Droopy Drawers

My son has a case of the droopy drawers. While his bum is quite precious and cute, it's often not enough to hold up his pants.

Has anyone else ever heard of these?
Dapper Snappers. You feed it through the back 3 loops on pants and snap it tight enough to hold up your little ones britches. Genius!! Why? Because suspenders are SOOOO out.

They run $11 for one and $30 for three. The question is: Can I MAKE them cheaper? Is it even worth it?

Is there anything similar out there that is less expensive but still good quality?

Okay that was more than one question...

They look pretty cool to me. I will have to do s'more 'vestigatin' on this subject.

He's got that special sheen...

Yesterday we put Brady down for his afternoon nap around 3. We could hear him playing in his room an hour later. He wasn't crying so we figured we'd just leave him in there so we could get dinner prepared and a little rest for ourselves. Around 4:30 he starts crying. Not a serious cry, but the cry that says, "I'm done being in my room!" I opened the door to let him out. His hair looks wet. He cuddles with Daddy for a few minutes. Carl notices he smells awfully sweet. When questioned what happened Brady says "I put cream on." Hmmmm....okay maybe he found a random bottle of lotion and opened it up. I went in his room to check for a mess. I found his top dresser drawer opened, the jar of Vaseline with lid off and suspicious markings that just perfectly matched two-year-old fingers digging out the goop. Yes folks, he climbed up onto his changing table, opened the drawer, opened the jar and smothered him self in Vaseline. His hair was nice and oily and his face had a "healthy glow" to it. I giggled at the thought of him carefully applying the "cream" to his face, his hair and arms. It was quite, quite humorous. And very moisturizing.
