Legs Up!!!

He has his mothers humor...
Apparently our son thinks it's funny to not pass a bowel movement for days. I'm pretty sure he's thinking "You just wait until I do poo poo!!" Just like the thumb-talking, Dad cracked up over this new trick Brady has learned. Mom just smiles with a tear in her eye. It is truly a bittersweet moment because no matter what she does, her little baby is growing up.

I've gone Blog Crazy!!
Wow, I really have been proclaiming myself to be crazy lately...what if I really am?

Due to some enforced naptime, I have been able to catch up on some blogging. this one is pretty random stuff that is going to be mixed together into one.
The other night, Brady was patiently waiting for mom to be done getting ready for bed so that he could eat and go down for the night. He has gotten this habbit of talking with his thumb (or other finger) in his mouth, and dad gets quite a kick out of it.
We bought Brady a Exersaucer to bounce around in. He's still little for the seat so he kinda wobbles back and forth. I think he's going to really enjoy it when he has more control over his body movements.
Fresh is the Best!
"The Prophet said to plant a garden, so that's what we'll do!" It's a little late in the year, but we did it!
Last weekend we planted our garden. At first we were only going to do an 8'x10' section, but plans soon changed. In the early hours of the morning we got out there with our hoe, rake and hand tiller. Boy was that dirt hard!!! After two hours of trying to work up the soil (or should I say rock hard clay,) we surrenderd and set to rent a tiller. Ah, much better that was! The garden is now something like 14'x16', which Carl likes because that's less lawn for him to mow. I think he would have tilled up half the back yard if I let him. We planted a big tomato plant, a cherry tomato plant, cucumbers, bell peppers (which aren't doing so hot), straight neck squash, winter squash, green onions, green beans and yellow onions. I'll be nice to be able to go get my produce from the back yard again. Hopefully money saving too, since last night we bought $7.00 worth of vegetables that are in the garden. Carl is amazed that the seeds have begun to sprout so quickly. Next year, we are gonna do corn as well. Carl would like to a long row along the fence, yes, you guessed it, so he doesn't have to mow as much. Silly Carl, mowing is good for you! He's just lucky I haven't gone and gotten a push, non-gas mower for him to use. Think if the money that would save!!

More wallet friendly, less time friendly.
Like so many other mothers have done in times of financial need, we have made the bold switch to CLOTH DIAPERS!!! Yes, I have gone crazy! Amazing stats like each disposable diaper costs $0.33 per change vs. the cloth that is anywhere from $0.08-$0.33 per change. I'm guessing we're more along the lines of $0.20 per change with the system we're using, 36 prefolds, 5 covers, 4 pocket diapers. diaperdecisions.com/cost_of_cloth_diapers.htmWe still do disposable if we're going to be out of the house for longer than 2 hours and if Brady is going to stay with someone else. The total investment was around $400, I think even less. I haven't done the math for all the diapers, covers, diaper pail, pail liner, cloth pins, laundry detergent and some other random things. My biggest dissapointment so far (I've only been doing this for a week) is that Onesies are a lot on the small side since his tush is soooo big with all that padding. I'm really excited to be doing this. I think that I find joy in doing challenging things. Best of luck to me!

The Day is Mine!!
Victory!!! Well, at least I think it's a victory. We went to pick up our photos at Sears today. Ever so graciously, they included 4 "lab bonus" prints. All four sheets, including a 10x13, were $20. Not a bad deal since each sheet is like $7. When we originally were looking to purchasing a package you could only get the CD with all right rights to the images for $30 after spending $100. I don't have that much money to spend on my little love-bumpkin every time we get photos taken. I mentioned "So, if I purchase these 'bonus' prints, will that count towards the $100 to get the CD?" There were some ladies there that were training another manager or something and one said, "You can buy the bonus prints and the CD for $40 without the $100 requirement." And so I handed over the plastic. Yes, I spent ALOT more than I originally had planned. We're kinda unfortunate because the only places that do photography around here are Sears and Wal-mart (yuck) unless you want to get REAL professional. So I can't get the fabulous deals at JCPennys unless we go to Memphis. It's hard enough to plan a trip into town to get photos done! So, we'll not spend the gas money and spend more on photos. the point is that I REALLY wanted the CD but didn't want to spend $130. I claim a victory in that we didn't spend $130 and I still got the CD. Now I can edit and create fun designs and reprint them all I want. Go me!!!

Go ahead, enlarge that sucker!!! Save him! They are no longer good only as small images! I got it zoomed all the way up to 400% with no pixelation! It's great.... I hope to get these on photobucket pretty soon.

Wow, that was alot of rambling. In other news....Carl got all our used boxes to the recyling place today. Now we can fit TWO cars in our TWO car garage! Imagine that! We're "fixin' ta" get a truck load the shtuff from Lowes or Home Depot to organize the garage and get rid of the majority of the remaining boxes. Bradys room is mostly complete now that we have a cheepo-riffic dresser. Bit by bit the house is coming together.
