The last week

Well well, we finally made it! 1750 miles of driving, we made it...safe and sound. So we stayed in Grand Junction the first night because of weather. We tackled the Rocky Mountains during the second day. Unfortunately, the weather had not quite cleared out by the time we were reaching Vail and Breckenridge. It got really snowy, with snow covering the roads. And to top it off, there was a wreck right at the worst part!! We were crawling and we could barely get traction on the roads. But slow and steady wins the race and we got past it. To go from Grand Junction to Denver(roughly 250 miles) took us 6 hours! We needed to keep going, so we ended up driving until until 9 pm. The last 3 hours were definitely nerve-racking because we were heading in to "ice-storm" clean-up...The roads themselves were clear, but the emergency lanes were still covered in ice. And to make things better, we saw two 18-wheelers on their sides in the median while driving in Kansas. Talk about taking a toll on the nerves!

The last day of driving was much better. Just drove, and drove, and drove. We needed to go 720 miles the last day, so it took FOREVER!!! Especially the last 4 hours. We didn't reach Jonesboro until 10:30 pm after starting the day at 8 am.

But alas, we're here. Take a look at a few pictures that we'll place on the blog.

Yeah! We're so glad to hear from you guys. Everyone has been saying, "So are Stephanie and Carl gone?" And I'm thinking "We didn't have that FAREWELL DINNER" for nothing. Hello! Anyway, we're glad that your safe and all that, even if we would prefer to have your company back here rather than in Arkansas. Blah blah blah, we're happy for you!

Congratulations on making the trek safely. Jamie and I wish you both the very best. I will be checking in periodically to see how the Midwest is treating you. Sorry that I couldn't make it to your farewell party at work Carl! Best wishes.
