Ever wake up to your husband telling you, "Hey Steph, (insert your own name there) the power is out"? That's what happened this morning. I thought, "Great, let's go back to bed." Only he responded, "We're going to the LaVetters. They have power and a fireplace." I about got sick. Who want's to leave their bedroom at 5 A.M. in the morning?!?! Not I, said the Steph.
I would not have been a very good early saint, forced from my home from a mob. It took about 10 minutes for my brain juices to get going, and then I just stood there and pondered what to take.
We arrived at our emergency shelter safely. Carl slept on a big comfy chair and Brady and I cuddled on a couch. I was reminded why I don't get Brady from his crib to have sleep overs in our room. That kid wakes up every 2 hours thinking it's time to play. And he snores.
The power did come back on at our house. We returned home to get more supplies for the upcoming evening at the LaVetters. Just as we went inside, it went off again. Our plans to have a sleepover were confirmed.
We had a great dinner and lots of fun eating marshmallows gently roasted over the fire. I think Brady is having the best day of his life. There are so many people to play with him. And mom isn't telling him "no touch" every 5 seconds.
We are thankful to be safe and warm. It's good to have family here who will let you crash at their house during the wee hours of the morning and for the next 24-48 hours. It's been fun. Maybe this is Gods way of telling us we need to spend more time with our family out here. Once Baby Davis arrives, I'm sure we'll be around much more often.
Thanks to the 1 1/2 inches of ice that have covered most everything for this wonderful adventure.

I'm glad you guys are okay. I was wondering if that storm hit in your area or not...scary! I hope the power comes back on soon.
1.5 inches of ice?!? Holy crap!
